Being Sharpened

We cannot escape people and having to deal with them no matter how reserved or private we are. We have to relate to our co-workers, classmates, co-travelers, co-shoppers and many with whom we interact on daily basis.

It is easy to interact pleasantly with people whom we meet occasionally like the clerk in supermarket or a co-traveler in public bus but it is tough to keep our sanity intact with people whom we see everyday. It is so tough to work out our differences that sometimes we tend to be bogged down with negative feelings about some people at work or school. We wish that we had someone else to work with instead of that person.

God brings people in our lives for a purpose. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17. The person who seems to be rude to you helps you learn self-control, patience, ability to forgive and accept; at the end of the day, these are the qualities that God wants to develop in you. The boss who is a taskmaster helps you cope up with pressure and work efficiently. Let us thank God for the people He has put in our lives and take our tough relationships positively.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1Thessalonians 5:11

Dear Lord, help me appreciate people around me. Help me to be a blessing to them. Lord, develop me through my relationships. In Jesus’ name I ask, Amen.
