Key Conversations

‘For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks’ ~ Matthew 12:34

If God were to publish a book entitled ‘Key Conversations’ – a collection of the conversations of my life, what would it be like? Would it encourage others or bring a spell of disillusionment? Would it instill hope and cheer or leave them feeling depressed and gloomy? Would another person’s life be blessed?

Look at the key conversations of David penned in the Book of Psalms. He asked many questions, expressed his anger, hopelessness, grief, sorrow, loneliness, fear. But he did not end his conversations with God that way. He always called upon God to help him, always looking up to God for help and believing that God will hear and answer, that help will be sent, that blessings will come his way, that God would not forget him. He always spoke of God’s faithfulness, majesty, power and strength. And these words spoken from the depths of his heart encourage millions of people across the globe even today.

The Bible exhorts us to speak only what is beneficial to those who listen. The private conversations we have in our closet determine the ones we have in public. Words have the power to create or destroy, to bring newness of life or set in decay. Jesus weighed each word carefully and spoke only what he heard the Heavenly Father speak. His closet times mark words birthed out of prayer. And so should ours.  For God has surrounded us with people he is concerned about. He longs to reach out to them through us being the instruments. And our words play an important part.

Lets dedicate ourselves to spending closet times with God and carrying within us a treasure store of words that will bless those who listen.

Prayer – “Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for love and patience for me. Thank you for the blessings you speak into my life. I dedicate myself to be a treasure store of words that will bless those who listen. May yours words fill and reign my life. Amen.”
