Whiter than snow

“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.” ~ Psalm 51:7

It’s such a hard task to wash away the stain on clothing. The stains mar the entire clothing making them look so awkward and ugly. Unless it’s clean it cannot be used. Something has to be done to get the stains off. In desperation a variety of detergents, solutions and stain removers are used.

Life in a way is like a fabric that unfurls with the passage of time. Everything we do leaves an imprint forming a lasting design. The good things we do leave a good imprint while the bad things leave a bad imprint. And desperately we try charity; acts of benevolence and good works thinking that they can help get rid off the guilt of sin. But not so…day after day the saga goes on and we wonder what to do when the very fabric of life is stained and marred due to our sins. What can be of help and is there such help?

King David’s life was deeply stained when he committed the sin of adultery. The fabric of his life was now marred and he had to do something. He realized that none of his own efforts or doings will help. So he went to God in prayer. He believed that God had the solution – the blood of Jesus Christ which cleanses all sins. In faith he prayed, ‘wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.’  The amazing truth about Jesus Christ is that no matter what sin we have done and how dark the stain, His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins does it all; it not only cleanses us but washes us whiter than snow!

Prayer

“Dear Jesus, thank you for Your sacrifice on the cross for me. Thank you that in You I am made clean and whole. Cleanse me Lord. I believe in You. Amen”
