‘In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.‘ ~ Psalm 18:6
After desginating the various positions of camping around the tabernacle, God commanded Moses to make two silver trumpets. These were used not only for assembling the teeming number of men, women and children before the tabernacle but also to commence the setting out in their respective order whenever the cloud moved, during festivals and even during battles. God said, ‘When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the LORD your God and rescued from your enemies.’
Interestingly, that’s what happened when Gideon and his men fought against the Midianites and other hostile eastern groups. He was so afraid of the Midianites and the Amalekites who were oppressing his people. God had chosen Gideon to fight a decisive battle and even gave him a sign of encouragement through the dream that a Midianite man saw. Encouraged by this, Gideon divided his three hundred men into three divisions, and placed in all their hands, very unique instrumenst for the battle – a lighted torch kept in a empty earthen pot and a trumpet. So they Gideon and his men drew near the edge of the enemies camp and at the right moment, they blew the trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. And surely as God promised, he remembered his people and delivered them, granting them a triumphant victory. Judges 7:22 says, ‘When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the LORD caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled to Beth Shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath.’
So take heart my friend, if you are facing troubles and difficulties, just sound the trumpet. Go to God in prayer, cry and pour out your soul to him. He understands. He will send help from his sanctuary, from his holy hill, salvation will come.
Prayer – “Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being a faithful God who hears my cry for mercy. Thank you for always being there to help me anytime. Indeed Lord, you uphold me with your righteous right hand. Amen.”
