‘And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’ – Philippians 4:7

Announce. Proclaim. Declare. Shout it from the roof tops. The angels sang the mighty chorus heralding the birth of Christ. ‘This day born in the city of David, is Christ the Lord.’ Many years ago, the prophet Nahum records, “Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!” Receiving news of peace is great relief to the distressed soul. The anxious mind is put to rest. Calmness and stillness of soul set in. The angels told the shepherds “Fear not”. God sounds out the same word of assurance to you and me.

Fear not about your tomorrow and what lies ahead. Fear not if the resources will be enough to see you through. Fear not if you will be taken advantage of or others overpower you. Fear not how others will react when you voice out your convictions. Fear not when you have to let go and trust God with your life. Fear not if God asks you to part with something you hold dear. Fear not if a promise is still in the waiting. Fear not if when you have to learn something new. Fear not when God takes you through a new path. Fear not when you can’t see the horizon and your goal seems far away. Fear not when unexpected challenges show up.

God’s peace is there for you to face all of these. His peace is beyond understanding, different from the way the world offers and boasts of. Jesus was born to give us this peace. The kind that cannot be explained but only felt. It’s a strange sense of peace. This peace calmed the fearful shepherds and made them to become proclaimers of Christ’s birth. When the peace of God fills your heart you too will become like those feet upon the mountains, the feet that bring good news, who proclaim peace. And no one can doubt what you say. For they have seen it in your life.

May the peace of God fill your heart and mind and overflow to others as well, especially those in need.

Prayer“Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for peace you give the kind that the world cannot give. Lord, I stay rested in you alone. May I treasure your peace and be a channel of it so that seen others can be blessed to have it. Amen.”
