Defining moments

Defining moments

Abraham faced a defining moment in his life. He had to choose between what appeared the best before his eyes – the well watered plain of Jordan or trust God and move ahead. In a step of faith, he allowed his nephew Lot to choose first, with no guarantee of finding a good place for his cattle ahead. Lot chose the plain of Jordan and this choice proved to be fatal. That city was burned down after sometime. He went by what seemed good to his eyes, it was apparent and desirable. He did not look for God’s say over the matter. But Abraham moved ahead, trusting that God’s choice for him was the best.

Defining moments intercept our lives – moments of decision, moments to make choices that play a crucial part in influencing the rest of the course of our life’s journey. And nobody’s an expert in handling such moments, because no one has been in that place before. We all live and die but once (Hebrews 9:27). Well then, if everyone is a novice to this, who can we rely on to help us make the right choices?

God is there to help us. Psalm 25:12 says, ‘Who is he that fears the Lord. To him will He show the way which he shall choose’. When we put God first, seek His decision, His say over the matter, even before we make our own choice, we are acknowledging God. And when this happens, God will show us the right way, the right choice, the right decision, directing our paths. Then we can steer clear of confusion, anxiety, regrets and loss. For Psalm 25:13 says, ‘His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth’. It will turn out well, when God is at the helm.

Are you at a crossroad wondering which way to take? Are you confused and anxious over some important life changing decision……hand it over to God. And he will help you.

Prayer

“Dear Jesus, I thank you that you are there to help me when facing life’s crossroads. I want to make the right choices in my life. Help me Lord. Amen.”
