Obey and Follow
‘If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth’. Deuteronomy 28:1
Nobody likes spoilt brats. They do whatever they feel and expect others to tow their line all the time. Parents of such kids are always on their toes trying to find some way to handle them or to pacify them. There is no peace either for these children or for those around them. On the other hand an obedient child is a joy to his parents and to everyone else too. An obedient child is blessed with many gifts because he respects and gives regards to what the elders say.
The same is true about us and our heavenly Father. When we disobey Him we forfeit all the blessings, favor and goodness that we can receive from Him. We invite His anger and wrath when we consistently do what is wrong and against His precepts. When we choose to obey and follow God’s Words of instruction for us, He is honored and He gives us much more than we can think or dream of. Just like a proud parent who loves to tell others about his child who did something good, our heavenly Father too blesses the children who obey Him by setting them above others, giving them power, prestige and all the good things. He does this because He delights in them.
Are you obeying the Lord’s commands? How closely do you follow Him?
Dear Jesus, I ask for your forgiveness for not obeying you so many times. I have knowingly and unknowingly offended you so many times by not doing as you bid me to. Please give me the wisdom, grace and understanding I need to do as you want me to. I surrender myself to you pledge that I will do my best to obey and follow you always, Amen’
