Full of Light
“Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light.” Luke 11:34
When surrounded with darkness all it takes for us is to turn on the light and the darkness is no more. A tiny spark, a candle, a torch or flashlight can transform a dark alley into a pathway. Nobody likes to live in darkness, it unnerves us and makes us feel uncomfortable.
The Word says ‘our eyes is the lamp of our body’. The conscience is the mind’s eye. We use it to see and know the difference between good and bad, right and wrong. The way we look at things can color and change our whole life. A good conscience lights up our mind and gives us confidence as when the ‘whole body is full of light’.
A conscience that has been turned off can lead to our fumbling from one dark experience to another. At times we may find some good but in the end everything will turn around for evil since ‘as we sow so shall we reap’.
When we find ourselves lost in the dark alleys of sin and shame, we have a choice to turn on the light… turn to Jesus, repent and get the light of His salvation to teach us how to live. When His light enters our hearts, the darkness will leave us forever.
“Dear Jesus, teach me how to live with a clear conscience by doing good. Cleanse me and fill me with Your light, Amen.”
