The Godly will be persecuted
“In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” 2 Timothy 3:12-13
We sometimes wonder where are the good people gone. Are there any who are honest and sincere in following the teachings of Jesus? As we look around we see a lot of impostors who deceive others. We despair as things get from bad to worse.
Paul warned us in his letter to Timothy that in the last days those who want to live a godly life will be persecuted. He reminded about all his own example, about his teaching, his way of life, his purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings and all the kinds of things happened to him, all the persecutions he had to endure.
Paul gives us the answer to our seeking for the good and the best. He leads us to look to the Word of God for all our answers, our needs. He says, ‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.’ 2 Timothy 3:16-17
If we have to be able to stand up and live a godly life in this day, age and time, we have to look to God’s Word to point us in the right direction. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Any human being, church or organization cannot take that place. We will find ourselves falling below the line of what is expected of us the moment we look away from Jesus.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, the only perfect and sinless One.
“Dear Jesus, help me not to lose hope because of all the wrong I see. Give me the grace and wisdom I need to live a godly life, Amen.”
