Love that intercedes
“Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” ~ Hebrews 7:25
A man walking on the beach one day found a little boy picking up something and throwing it back into the sea. Getting closer, he found that the boy was picking up starfishes that had come ashore and putting them back into the sea. Smiling the man said, ‘Hey boy, why are you doing this? There are so many of them… look… the whole beach is full of them… and besides for how many can you do this?’ The boy continued what he was doing and replied, ‘I’m doing this because it matters for this one…..and this one….and this one’
Jesus prays for each one of us. Why? ‘Because it matters to this one (you)…and this one (me)…and this one…’ He never fails us. We make it through life each day not because of our own strength, money, status, power, influence or wellness, but because of God’s great love for us. Lamentations 3:22 says, ‘Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.’
Many things seem to consume us – a prolonged sickness, emotional pain, broken relationships, being cheated or abused, problems at home or work, a financial crunch, a delayed answer, a long period of waiting.….but praise God that we are not consumed by them. Jesus upholds us in prayer and that’s keeps us going.
Jesus loves each of us individually and personally. His love is the kind that intercedes, that implores, that pleads…..for you to be blessed, protected and be well. He does it because it matters to you and because You matter to Him.
“Dear Jesus, your love is amazing. I’m so blessed to know how much you care for me. Thank you for interceding for me. Amen.”
