The Promise of Peace

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

Peace, peace peace! The word ‘peace’ itself sounds so peaceful and soothing. God has promised us peace that passeth all understanding, He says He doesn’t give us as the world gives. How does the world give? Yes, we find peace watching Television, movies, spending time with our loved ones…..

So, how is it different from what the Lord gives? Let’s see, how long does this peace last? One hour, two hours, three hours or…., yes friends it is temporary, in order to obtain peace we again have to do either of these. But it is different with God our Father, the peace He gives is an everlasting peace.

We might go through different situations, but God guarantees us His immense peace amidst all such situation too. There are people who look so peaceful and relaxed even if they have a huge load on their head, on doing a short survey we come to know that they trust in the Lord and it is He who helps them remain peaceful and relaxed.

There are people who run to others or some entertainment to refresh their mind, some even take alcohol to forget the tensions that they are presently facing. But the peace obtained through these methods is temporary, this would not last long, this is the peace that the world gives. On contrary the peace that the Lord gives is an everlasting peace.

We see every promise in the Bible is attached with a condition, and the condition mentioned here is that we cling on to Him and His glory would be revealed. His glory would be shone on our face. Jesus the Son of God is known as the Prince of Peace, and when we invite Him into our hearts, His peace will rule in our lives. We lose this everlasting peace only when we commit sin, because as sin enters the glory of God departs from within us.

Prayer:
“Dear Jesus, forgive me for the times I hurt You through sin. Help me Lord to live a sinless life and enjoy your peace. Amen.”
